TEAM DANCER
05/30/2011: Dancer is doing great! We have been working on neck reining, and just letting him realize that playing around is fun. We went to Hobart, Ok yesterday for the Memorial Day parade. Even though we didn't ride in it,he was great with all the
horses, and riders, and all the floats and flags. He has been doing amazingly well. I will be taking him to the Lawton Rangers rodeo flag practice on sunday, and we will be trying out for the flag team in the rodeo.
06/6/2011: Update on Dancer. We have been working with trail obstacles. He does great with the mail box, then cones, the poles, and the gate. We started working with the tarp and he is doing amazing. He walks and trots over the tarp on the ground. He walks under the tarp as it is flying in the air, and he is cautious, but good about me grabbing a corner of the tarp and dragging it. Dancer has been doing great on trail rides, and he LOVES going on the track and riding with my friend and her horse. We will walk and trot about a mile around the track and every once in a while I will let him just run and he loves it. He perks his ears, sticks his tail out and flattens and just has a blast, but he also comes right dpwn when I ask for a break of gait. He is doing amazingly well. We also have finally learned to tie and stand for fly spray/showsheen. He is still bad about walking around when I give him a bath, but that, I believe, is just his personality. So over all Dancer is comeing along very well and I am proud to be working with such a intelligent, and trusting horse.
07/27/2011: Update on Dancer - Hey, I just wanted to give an up date on Dancer. we have been working our tail off, haha, get it, tail. Lol, anyways but now i hate to inform
that Dancer is currently taking some R&R. He tweeked his leg and is resting. We hope to be back up and working for the competition, but he will not be pushed so we will see.
08/05/2011: Update on Dancer - Well as most of you know Dancer has been off for the past 3 weeks on R&R. He injured his leg, but it was not as serious as we suspected, so he is now healing. He is not 100% yet, but is doing much much better. He starts light work today and will continue to build training as the days go. He will need refreshers in his training from past months, but I suspect he will do amazingly well. We have been working on halter while he was injured, and he is doing better and is slowly getting more patient. Tonight we will be working with the surcingle and will be working on his head throwing. Dancer is still doing great. I have been sitting on him while he eats and he just got a new hair cut and trimmed. We have lost 3 weeks of training due to this injury, but I am confident to say he is still doing wonderfully. We are behind schedule from where I had anticipated but, what would horse training be without the obvious, horse picking their own schedule! I look forward to seeing everyone at the challenge and visiting Dancer.
08/16/2011: Update on Dancer - Well today was a long morning. I have spent the morning with dancer getting him ready for the challenge. I just got done giving horses baths. dancer go his ears, muzzel, bridle path, eyes, and coronet band shaved, and his mane pulled and trimmed and his white socks shaved!! He stood very well. He wasnt sure about the clippers by his ears, but after a while he finally realized i was not going to kill him with them, so he relented.
Keep checking back for more updates on TEAM DANCER!
Be sure to come out August 20th, 2011 to support them!
