My name is Jordan Connelly. I have been working with horses since I was about nine years old. I grew up around all kinds of livestock. I got my first horse around the age of nine. His name is Charlie. I showed Charlie for two or three years. Soon after that I came to meet Robert Hayes. Robert is extraordinary, he was so amazing with the horses that I knew I wanted to be like him.
In the summer of 2011 Robert asked me to come work with him during that summer. We soon became best friends. That summer I adopted my first horse from Blaze’s. Her name was Wizard, now changed to Junebug. Robert and I trained her! She turned in to an amazing pony. After we had trained her, my mom decided she wanted a horse so we adopted our second horse from Blaze’s. Her name was Dream, now called Georgia. I would go to Robert’s house after school and ride Junebug. One day he showed me his Trainer’s Challenge horse. After watching him work with her I had my mind set on doing this too. In 2014 I picked up my first Trainer’s Challenge horse, Happy. She soon became close family and I knew there was no way I could live without her. It was if we were one. After long months of hard work we placed second. Happy, now called Grae, came home with me and I continue to ride her. We love her! The next year I picked the most amazing horse. His name was Powerball. He touched my heart. I put hours and hours into training him and we placed first. He got adopted to his forever home. It was very difficult for me to let Powerball go because I had become very attached to him. The next year I picked Mazie Mae. She was a difficult one that I spent many hours working with. We placed second. She got adopted to her forever home. Last summer I also adopted another horse named Scarface, now called Red. Robert and I trained him. I continued training him with my other trainer friend, Linda. She is my role model and a wonderful horse trainer who has helped me grow. Through all of this I found out what I want to do with my future. The amazing people in my life have helped me see the road ahead. I love horses and I want to continue training horses.
